Using A Scrapbooking Paper Cutter To Make An Original Scrapbook
A scrapbooking paper cutter is a great tool to help you with your scrapbooks.
There are several different types and I would like to take a look at a couple so that you can decide which ones are right for you.
Different Kinds Of Scrapbooking Paper Cutters And How You Use Them
First up is a small paper trimmer. Scrapbooking paper cutters of this variety are generally small and compact. While they can be good for doing corners and small, delicate work, they have a tendency to not work as well on larger and longer cuts. It can be difficult to line up the ruler correctly when cutting across a large area so you have to be very careful in how you do this. I would recommend using a much larger cutter for any longer cuts that you’re looking to make. While a cutter like this will work fine for small jobs you will run into problems with your bigger ones.
Next up is a circle style cutter. These cutters are designed to cut out circular patterns. These cutters do a decent job working with digital scrapbooking paper where you are looking to make circular images, but after that they are pretty much useless. It is not so much in the concept that they do not work, but the execution. When using your scrapbooking paper cutter you need to be very careful about how accurate your circles are. If you slip up at all while using this product your circles will come out useless and you will be unable to use it in your scrapbook project.
Next up is a freestyle cutter. Scrapbooking paper cutters like these allow you to cut freely without any border. Usually they come with templates and a self healing mat. IN addition the blade will only cut paper so they are perfectly safe. These style cutters are nice for a multitude of uses.
You can cut out odd shapes with ease, trim pre done work, or cut around patterns simply. The only problem is that you can make a mistake very easily, and your tracings have to be spot on in order to be effective. I recommend having one of these for special occasions, but I do warn against using them regularly.
As you can see there are different kinds of scrapbooking paper cutters designed for different roles. It is up to you to pick the right tool for the job, so before you cut make sure that you are using the right product.
